Better decisions with trend monitoring

CARER.Plus, an artificial intelligence and data driven platform, has empowered healthcare professionals to provide holistic support. Two members at the premium care home Pine Residence in Causeway Bay, participated in the trial for weeks.

Steve Yu, co-founder and director of Finesse Intelligent Tech Limited, said the smart system can improve efficiency and alleviate pressure in the elderly healthcare industry due to shortage in manpower.

The system saves time for healthcare professionals by implementing automation. Through numerous sensors in the two members’ rooms and smart watches they wear, the system collects vital signs like heart rate and breathing rate, and detects any danger such as gas leak.

“With real-time data, we can measure the trend of the rates for professionals to refer to and make better decisions. If they see there is a trend of certain signs getting poorer, nurses can notice and take actions earlier,” said Yu.

AI leads the way

The data will then be passed on to the “Individual Care Plan” portal for the usage of nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists to help them work more effectively.

When healthcare professionals ask the generative AI chatbot for suggestions, it will go through sensor data of the elderly people, as well as their medical histories, to create customised and high-quality proposals, generating plans for meals and activities.

“Using the portal, healthcare professionals save a lot of time as they don’t have to go through the records themselves to make recommendations,” Yu explained. “As we simplified the procedures, the professionals can make quicker decisions when reviewing the plans as well.”

New technology brings peace of mind

The two members on trial trusted the system so much that they were happy to wear the smartwatches in bed, and the data showed they had really good sleep.

“The two members said that even just seeing the devices in their rooms already made them feel safe and able to sleep well,” said Yu. “It is great to see that they are not only well taken care of physically, but also psychologically.”
