Designing in a split second

With the boom of artificial intelligence, computers have generated thousands of images that exceed the human mind. With a prompt, an AI could create designs – which may take professionals days or weeks – in just a few seconds. Using this technology, Marvel Digital Ai worked with Nina Hospitality for months to come up with new designs.

“For instance, if we instruct the AI to create a colourful modern design for a hotel lobby, it will generate new furniture that fit the request,” said Cher Chan, Business Development Manager of Marvel.

In the past, designers may have to create mock-ups, or even try out the designs onsite, to know if they will work.

“As we automate this process, it helps our clients to visualise what’s going to happen more quickly, which makes it easier for them to choose what they like,” Chan said.

Huge potential for marketing

During the trial, Marvel realised that instead of using text prompts which some still find unfamiliar, it would be easier for users to upload a photo they liked as reference, and the AI will generate the relevant prompt, which users can input again to create new images.

Marvel started to work on AI a few years ago to develop text-based products, but it was the emergence of new open-source tools since 2023 that helped Marvel to excel in the visual field. On the basis of these tools, the company has built various customised solutions.

“This technology is so new and we are yet to know the limits of it,” said Chan. “The only limit could be our own imagination. We see a huge potential of using our tool in the future.”
